Criminal Defence Solicitors

You’re in Safe Hands

At Ferris & Co. Solicitors, we provide expert criminal defence to all clients facing criminal charges, no matter how serious. From minor driving offences to complex fraud and serious assault cases, our role is to protect your rights and ensure you are treated fairly throughout.

Most criminal matters begin with a police station interview. We will attend with you and ensure the interview is conducted in line with the Police and Criminal Evidence (PACE) Codes of Practice. We will advise you on the evidence gathered by the PSNI and clearly explain your options based on your instructions. If charges follow and your case proceeds to court, we will represent you in both the Magistrates’ and Crown Court. Where needed, we will instruct experienced Counsel or expert witnesses to support your defence and secure the best possible outcome.

Facing criminal charges is daunting but you are not alone. We provide clear, calm advice, protect your interests, and support you at every step. Should you need legal assistance with any criminal defence matter, please contact our office. Paul Ferris or Maeve McConville will be happy to help.

Get In Touch
Do you offer legal aid representation?

Yes. Everyone is entitled to legal aid for a police station or PACE interview. For criminal charges, eligibility depends on your income and the nature of the offence. Legal aid is generally available for a wide range of cases, including family, children’s and domestic proceedings, divorce, and ancillary relief matters. However, legal aid is not available for most driving offences.

How long will my conveyance take, and when will I have a completion date?

On average, a conveyance takes between 8 to 10 weeks. This can vary depending on issues that may arise, such as survey results, boundary queries, or title matters. We always aim to meet your preferred completion date, but please note this date only becomes legally binding once contracts have been signed by both parties.

Do I have grounds for divorce?

In Northern Ireland, there is only one legal ground for divorce — the irretrievable breakdown of the marriage. This must be proven by one of five facts: adultery, unreasonable behaviour, desertion for two years, two years’ separation with consent, or five years’ separation without consent.

What happens if I die without making a Will?

If you die without a Will, your estate will be distributed under the laws of intestacy. These rules determine who inherits your assets and may not reflect your personal wishes. Making a Will ensures your estate is passed on according to your preferences and can help avoid delays, disputes, and additional stress for your loved ones.

How do I arrange a consultation with one of your solicitors?

You can contact our office directly by phone or email to arrange a consultation. We offer appointments in person, by phone, or video call, depending on your preference and the nature of your legal matter.
